Volunteer with ARD
If you would like to get involved with Alamogordo Roller Derby, but do not want to skate with the team (or aren't sure yet) you can also fill one of our volunteer positions.
Skating Officials (Referees)
Referees are easily recognizable by their black and white striped shirts. These officials skate around either the inside or outside track, watching the skaters. Their responsibility is to enforce the rules, ensuring safe and fair game play. Referees are the primary officials who call penalties.
Non-Skating Officials (NSOs)
NSOs fill a wide variety of positions during a bout. These positions include timing the game, tracking penalties, timing penalties, keeping score, operating the scoreboard, and tracking lineups.
We are always looking for people to help us, as there are a lot of moving parts that go into successfully organizing a bout or mash-up. Miscellaneous volunteer jobs include track crew to help set up and tear down the track, announcers, EMT trained personnel, as well as manning ticket, merchandise, and bake sale tables.
